Ella - first sea trials

At last, this weekend the brand new Whaleboat open water rowboat went in for its first sea trials. Unfortunately the weather was pretty bad so nobody was available for shooting action shots. But you can trust us, the boat handled perfectly and the crew was pleased with the performance. More pictures to be posted.

Boatbuilding course: dory maiden trip

This nice little boat was built during our 10-week boatbuilding course - a very successful course, with great people and lots of fun taking the boat out for her first real test.

Serious wintertraining on the Leie in the tender :)

From the Whaleboat archives: short video taken during our minus 10°C wintertraining..

Interested in taking a boatbuilding course with us?

We just finished a training course in Bruges, at Archonaut vzw, and another one is nearing its end. In 10 weeks 7 students built a 4,5 m dory, larch on oak. Here are some pictures taken during the course.
If you're interested in participating in a future course, make sure to leave your contact details with us or with Archonaut!

Oostende voor Anker

Also this year we were present at OvA. This time we rowed the Tessa to Oostende from De Haan. It took us 3 hours on Friday against current and wind, and 1 hour and 10 minutes going back on Tuesday, with the current but against the wind.
It got us an 'Image of the week' in the local newspaper :)
